I Can Haz: Another HKN wishlist

I really love seeing people's wish lists because it gets me excited about stuff that I might not have known about otherwise. Being a 20- something year old living on her own, I obviously can't pop out and buy every little thing that comes to mind so I like to make wish lists and when I have disposable income, I can refer back to it and buy myself a little sumthin sumthin! I want to cover cosmetics and clothing so bear with me here! (Aside: I actually had to google whether it was bear of bare because both seemed. Once sounds like an animal, one sounds like getting nekkid. Just sayin')
There's something for everybody!

  • A new blush brush. My blush brush is looking really sad right now and I am in dire need of a new one.

I am a huge believer in Wal- Mart's Spa Resource brand brushes. This particular blush brush is made of natural hair and is only 8$!! I have two of those slanted blush brushes and can't stand them so I'm going back to the classic shape. So far I have loved the other brushes that I've purchased so I'll probably continue on with these.

  • Joe Fresh Cream Blush
I'm on a real blush kick and I'm dying to try a cream blush so this works out just dandy. I've read great things about these and for 8$, I'm definitely willing to give them a go.

  • Covergirl's Intense Shadowblast in Brown Bling

I bought one of these in "Forever Pink" and I've been using it most days ever since. It's waterproof and creaseproof so you can use it as a base for any eye shadow or just whip it on for a quick but finished look (key for early mornings before work). This brown-ish taupey colour is right up my alley.

  • Essie's "Power Clutch".
img from lacquerwear.com

I love LOVE dark vampy nail polishes in the fall and winter but refuse to wear a simple black. What I really love are colours that are so dark, they're practically black. With it's green undertones, "Power Clutch" fits the bill. Plus, it doesn't look like anything I have in my large MASSIVE collection.

  • Wet n' Wild's Party of Five Glitters.
img from cosmeticsaficionado.blogspot.com

I've been kind of obsessing over Deborah Lipmann's Glitter in the Air but there is no way I'm paying 30$ on a nail polish!
img from hrhcollection.net

I already have a great baby blue nailpolish and I think that with Party of Five Glitters on top, I can achieve a similar look.

Onto the clothes!!
  • Rust coloured pants.

Because I rarely actually sit at my desk at my job, I tend to wear pants to be comfortable and to avoid flashing my goods when I'm on a ladder or hanging from the ceiling, or whatever. I have a pretty good array of basic pants but I'm looking for something a little ZAZZY. I love this colour for the fall.

  • A loose knit sweater.

I love all of the awesome sweaters that I've seen so far this season and I especially love all of the metallic knitwear that's being shown. Such a cool twist. This particular one is from Love Culture.

  • Simple blouses. Pretty self-explanatory, I think.

  • Leopard Belt.

This is definitely not the first appearance of this particular item on my wish lists but I just can't seem to find the perfect one! Gahhhh!

This, to me, is really an ideal boot.

Could you wear these to work? Sure. Could you wear these to go out? Sure. Could you wear these everyday until they literally rot off your feet? I plan to do so.

  • Loud Chain jewelry.

I'll let all that awesome shopping fun sink in. Hope you guys enjoyed! xx

Polka Dottie

It's been a while and for some reason I've been feeling rather disconnected from the Interwebz so I wasn't really sure how to get back into things. I had time to snap some pictures before heading out the door so that's what you get! I would love to show you some fabulous fall outfit but for now, it's hot as hell in Montreal so we're going to have to wait a little longer.

I am loving how practical these little wedges are! They're majorly on sale too! http://www.aldoshoes.com/ca-eng/sale/women/sale-sandals/84169005-pouche/28

Face:
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in shade 51 light vanilla
Hard Candy Glamouflage Concealer

Sleek brown  and black matte eyeshadows from storm palette

Just a note on the makeup, I have to sing my praises for MAC's Warm Soul blush. It's the perfect neutral blush colour that I love to use when I have any redness of spots on my cheeks (which is where they tend to pop up). It defines my face without drawing attention to any of those flaws and for that I have to say it has Holy Grail status in my books.

Hope you're all enjoying the long weekend! xx

Rainy Sunday? Shopping it is.

An outfit post!!! I know, I can't believe it either. It feels like it's been a really long time! I was heading out with my lady friends this morning for a shopping adventure and I figured I'd snap a few pictures of my casual shopping outfit.

It was so dark today, it was really hard to get reasonable lighting but you can't win 'em all.

2 for 1

Well lucky for you people, thanks to my lack of planning and general silliness, you get 2 outfits in one post! Rejoice!

Going out for a drink with my girl Dr. LB and I only had time to take a crumby mirror shot. And then the camera's battery died so I only got to take one crumby mirror shot. Lame. So here it is. Pleather shorts + New (old) leopard blouse + red belt +Farrah Faucet hair = recipe for a great night.
Blouse and belt: Thrifted, Pleather shorts: F21, Farrah hair: The 70s

OUTFIT NUMBER DOS

Top: Zara, Jeans and belt: Garage, Sandals: Aldo, Bag: H&M
Fun fact about these jeans: These are my second pair of these exact jeans. About a year ago I tried to repurchase them but they had changed the rise so that my bodacious butt (lol) would not fit. Flash forward to a few days ago and I realised they changed them back. Holy Grail jeans purchased once again. Balance restored to universe.

Maquillage:

Face: Stila Tinted moisturizer, MAC Careblend pressed powder (light plus), Glamouflage Concealer (light), NYC Sunny bronzer, MAC Mineralize skinfinish blush "Warm Soul"

Eyes: Stila light pink eyeshadow all over lid (sorry dunno the name), MAC "handwritten" eye shadow in crease, Physicians Formula gel eyeliner in brown, Covergirl Lashblast mascara+ Rimmel Glam Eyes Day 2 Night mascara (epic mascara combo)

Lips: MAC Shygirl

Well this turned into a lengthy post didn't it! My bad...

Across the pond

Unfortunately for me, I have really gotten into UK bloggers lately. I say unfortunately because it turns out that those clever British folk are really on their game when it comes to drug store (aka high street) cosmetics. Usually I would just go on over to ebay and buy whatever UK products I'm currently craving but there's some sort of crazy law that has passed to protect French cosmetics and perfumes from counter fitting (or something) and LONG STORY SHORT all cosmetics have been blocked from my viewing on ebay. *Deep breath*
Lucky for me, my dear friend Erica is currently in France doing a summer program because she's an opera singer (I know, how cool) and she's going to pop into England to (amongst other things) get me a bunch of makeup stuffs (haha).
So, ladies, here is what I asked her to look for:

  • Barry M Nail Paints in "Blue Moon" and "Mushroom"

  • Collection 200 Lasting Perfection Concealer (I have read rave reviews)

  • 17 Mirror Shine Lipsticks in "Beehive" and "Nudist Peach" (again, rave reviews)

  • Natural Collection lipstick in Apple Blossom (these are under £2!!)
  • Bourjois Blush in Rose Coup de Foudre (right) (supposed to be comparable to NARS' Deep Throat)

  • Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara
  • Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (I didn't actually ask my friend to get me this because I can order it on Asos.com. It's made in the same factories as Chanel's products)

So that's my list! What do you think, UK girls, did I miss any must haves?! Have YOU ever done a UK swap? Let me know!

p.s. I got all of these pictures from google images and do not intend to claim that any of these are mine. If I have your picture and you want me to take it down please let me know! :)

Budget Beauty

Okay guys, I have a confession to make. I'm a little bit of a beauty addict *shocked silence*.
Okay, maybe you already knew that. But lately, I've been getting really into drugstore makeup. I love that more and more, you can get good quality makeup for a great price, which is nice for addicts like myself. Here are a few things I got recently that I've been really happy with.

-Revlon Colorburst lipstick in Soft Nude: I mentioned this in my wish list post so I won't talk about it too much but it's a great dupe for MAC's Creme d'Nude. I keep this in my purse at all times.
-Hard Candy's Glamouflage Concealer: So amazing. Probably the most hardcore drug store concealer you can buy.
-Wet n Wild Cream Shadow Pencil in Pixie: I spotted this the last time I was at Wal-Mart and it reminded me a lot of NYX's jumbo eye pencils. This is a great colour to just wear on its own or under eyeshadow to make it last longer and keep from creasing. And for less than 2$!!!
-Annabelle eyeshadow in #121 "Cloud": These were on sale for 3$ at Wal-Mart and I loved this light taupey/grey colour. I've been really blown away by the quality.

-Revlon lipgloss in "Coral Reef": These lipglosses are great quality and this colour is perfect for summer. Also a score because I got it half price ^_^
-Rimmel lip liner in "East End Snob": This is my first ever lip liner! The formula is really nice and it's almost the exact same colour as my lips
-Wet n Wild eyeliner in "Dark Brown": I'm sure everyone had one of those back in high school, but I am glad to tell you that the quality is surprisingly nice and it's about 1.50$ and probably twice the size of any other eyeliner I've had. Do you need more convincing?
-Rimmel Day2Night glam eyes mascara: It takes me a bit of time to get seriously into a new mascara but I am enjoying this so far. This is definitely good for anyone who looks dramatic lashes and I got a compliment on my eyelashes when I was wearing it last week. Good sign?
Now for the swatches:

In the shade

Left to right: Wet n Wild Pixie, Annabelle Cloud, Wet n Wild brown eyeliner, Rimmel East End Snob, Revlon Soft Nude, Revlon Coral Reef
Now go and be budget beauties! xox

Clean Slate

I will warn you now that while this is a hair post, this is not by any means a GLAMOROUS one. While lacking the usual glitz and glam of my usual posts (snarf) I actually read about this on another blog and found it to be really helpful so prepare to LEARN people.
A long time ago I read a post (http://schoee.blogspot.com/2009/08/grease-is-word.html) on Zoella's blog about product buildup. Have you ever washed your hair and blowdried it and literally immediately after you felt like you had gross, greasy roots? That's product buildup.
While my situation wasn't nearly that dire I really felt like my hair was kind of heavy and limp lately so I picked up Neutrogena's Anti-Residue Shampoo.

Basically this stuff takes out all the leftover conditioners, serums, sprays and whatever else you have managed to put in your hair lately and allows your products to work better after. I washed my hair with this and immediately felt how clean and light it was. While I didn't use any conditioner after, I would probably suggest you put a bit in your ends if you have hair that's prone to knotting. Style your hair as usual and enjoy it's glorious airy lightness (killed that description).

Hitting the gym in full makeup

I've been watching one of those damned Kardashian shows lately (yeah I said it) and every time they're at the gym or the grocery store or just waking up or WHATEVER they're fully contoured with false lashes and the whole shebang. Anyways I am not that awesome but this makeup tutorial kills for a going out look. Enjoy ^_^

Pucker

I've been wanting to do an every day lipstick post for a long time now because I feel like a lot of people think that lipstick is not casual or "too much" for normal life, which really isn't true! I think I've complained before about how hard it is to take true-to-life makeup pictures so after trying many times, I kind of went a different route.

So I've got 4 lipsticks and 2 glosses here, all of which can pretty much be mixed and matched.
Creme D'Nude (17.50$) by MAC is an amazing nude lipstick. The cremesheen formula (probably the most moisturizing of their regular lipsticks) is very comfortable to wear and I think this is a very flattering nude for people with light to medium-light skintones. It's one of those lipsticks that everyone talks about.
Airy fairy by Rimmel (~6$) is a slightly pinky beige colour with gold flecks. If you think nude is too light or washed out for you, this is a great alternative. This is a "my lips but better" colour for me.
Darling by Covergirl (~9$) is pinker than Airy Fairy and more cold-toned I would say. A nice way to wear pink day to day without looking too shocking.
Impressive by MAC (17.50$) is a sheen supreme lipstick. On me it's like a darkened nude basically, with warm undertones. This is the only one that I don't layer up with lip gloss because it's so glossy already.
Greek Holiday is a NARS lipgloss, which are insanely expensive. Like I've said before, I don't really believe in expensive lip glosses. I think you can find nice formulas at drug stores. This is a nice colour though. It's kind of a gold-toned nude. I'll wear this over Creme d'Nude for a full-on nude lip or over one of the pinker lipsticks to tone them down. (p.s. Revlon's colorburst lipgloss in gold dust looks almost the same to me)
Glass Confusion (I still can't figure out why the hell they would call it that) is a Wet n' Wild lipgloss. They're like 3$ and I actually really love the texture of these. I'll wear this over Creme d'Nude to warm it up or over the pink lipsticks.

See? these don't turn out so well. But still, this is Creme d'Nude with Glass Confusion on top.

Airy Fairy with Glass Confusion on top.
Don't be scared of lipstick! It's fun and really polishes off your look in an un-obvious way. People will be like "wow, that girl looks like she has her shit together, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is".

Welcome to Hello Kitty Nightmare

Hello new and old friends!
I am debating moving my blog over from http://hellokittynightmare.tumblr.com/ so I'm going to post on both sites for a while until I make a decision. This blog will be especially focused on fashion, beauty, and other things that I find cute/noteworthy.
